Title: Clinical Supervisor
Pronouns: she/her
Who I Work Best With:
I help social workers and counselors to feel confident in their abilities to work with children and their families so they can guide their clients through the healing process with confidence.
You know that working with children and their families is something you are extremely passionate about. If you are new to the field, you are seeking support that is well rounded and authentic. Perhaps you want to learn more about how to engage children in the therapy process while also learning how to support the caregivers through their own process. Working with parents and families can be emotionally draining and private practice can be incredibly isolating. With all of the vicarious trauma you may be consuming, I can provide the support you need for a sustainable practice. As a certified Synergetic Play Therapist, I can also help you integrate play therapy into your clinical practice. If you seek a supervisor who understands the emotional weight of holding space for everything that children and their families bring into the therapy room, I would be a good fit working with you.
I have worked in a variety of settings including schools, community based mental health centers, outpatient facilities, and private practice settings, and I can provide clinical supervision and consultation to clinicians in any of these settings. I can provide individual supervision, group supervision, individual consultation, and group consultation to aspiring and experienced therapists.
Leah is able to provide clinical supervision in Colorado. Leah is an independent contractor with Firelight Supervision.
My supervision style comes from a humanistic approach because authenticity and trust is an important part of the supervisory process. I believe that relationships are a strong part of the therapeutic process, and the supervisory relationship is just as essential for client success. Clinical supervision or consultation allows for mutual exploration of both the journey you are on as a therapist, but also the journey you are on with your clients. If you are at a job where supervision is not offered or you are just not meshing well with the clinical supervisor you have, I might be a great fit for you.
I understand what it’s like not having the right clinical support when you need it most. Early in my career I was working with supervisors who I did not connect with and it made it difficult to be vulnerable and honest about the struggles I was having. Because of this, I wanted to commit to creating a safe space for my peers or early career clinicians to process what is needed in order for your professional growth to take place.

Supervision Training and Experience:
I have provided supervision to pre-licensed social workers and counselors in a variety of settings, and I am currently obtaining the Approved Clinical Supervisor credential, which entails 45 hours of supervision-specific training. Over the course of my career I have worked in many settings including child welfare agencies, schools, residential treatment facilities, community mental health agencies and group and private practice settings.
When I am not working I love spending time with my husband and daughter. Listening to live music is what fills my soul with joy so any time I have the chance to see a show I do! I am also a bit of a TV junkie so I’m often caught up in a new show to help me unwind at the end of the day.
